The Inter-American Housing Union (Uniapravi) and Asobancaria successfully held the 57th Inter-American Housing Conference and 16th Housing Forum on May 5 and 6, 2025, at the Grand Hyatt Bogotá, Colombia.
The Inter-American Conferences are the most important regional forum on housing policies, housing finance, and urban management that Uniapravi has held for 59 years. They also provide a great opportunity to meet and network with senior executives and directors of financial institutions, developers and construction entrepreneurs, international organizations, academic and professional institutions, as well as representatives of housing and urban planning governing bodies from central, regional, and local governments in various Latin American and Caribbean countries.
The conference aimed to analyze experiences in the transformation of the housing sector, the economic and political context, strategies for housing improvement and urban resilience, mechanisms for accessing savings and credit for homes and construction projects, affordable housing and urban revitalization, as well as perspectives on existing and rental housing.
The conference was aimed at professionals and management-level executives and professionals from Uniapravi member and associate entities, banks, financial institutions, mutual funds and housing savings and loan associations, cooperatives, savings banks, finance companies, fund managers, and central banks; as well as authorities and officials from housing funds and banks, mortgage banks, researchers, and consultants.
The event brought together nearly 200 attendees, including exhibitors and participants from Argentina, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, France, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Peru, and the Dominican Republic, as well as representatives of international organizations such as the Inter-American Development Bank, CAF (Development Bank of Latin America), the World Bank, Habitat for Humanity International, and Miyamoto International.
The event was inaugurated by Mr. Jonathan Malagón, President of the Colombian Banking and Financial Institutions Association (Asobancaria) and Second Vice President of Uniapravi, as well as by Ms. Helga Rivas, Minister of Housing, City, and Territory, and Mr. César Ferrari, Financial Superintendent of Colombia. Finally, the event was closed by Mr. José Luis Ventura, President of Uniapravi.
